Derren Brown Behind Creepy Victorian 'Living Dolls' Giving Commuters the Shivers

The life-size twin sisters popped up at commuter hotspots across the capital as part of a stunt to promote Brown’s psychological ride set to open at Thorpe Park.

The two life-size Victorian-style dolls shocked Londoners this morning as the creepy pair popped up at commuter hotspots across the capital.
But, thankfully, the terrifying twins weren’t harbingers of doom.
It was in fact part of a stunt to mark the launch of the world’s first psychologicaltheme park ride, created by Brown and coming to Thorpe Park next year.

The realistic 4ft 7ins dolls were spotted at venues including Charing Cross Tube Station, Oxford Street and Regent Street, where they were seen carrying toy dols and pushing an empty 1900s-era pram.

Several commuters voiced their confusion and horror on social media, before Thorpe Park revealed the truth behind the girls’ appearances.
Brown said: “The theme of Victoriana is ever present in my work and you will see glimpses of this in my new attraction.
“I believe we are moving toward a future where theme park attractions not only give you a physical experience but also play with your mind and the concept of what is real.
“The Victorian twin dolls, who have popped up around London this week, are just a taster of what my new attraction has in store for visitors to Thorpe Park next Spring.
“I look forward to the public unwrapping the clues of what’s to come – all is very much, not what it seems.”
The twins, reminiscent of The Grady sisters from horror film The Shining, are part of a week-long marketing plan, which will see the living dolls roaming high footfall commuter areas across London.

A specially-commissioned team of tailors spent three weeks creating their white corsets and pallid doll masks, which conceal the faces of two 10-year-old sisters.
The Thorpe Park team announced the Derren Brown attraction in October, which resulted in worldwide media coverage and speculation about its form.
The announcement was paired with a series of images of the renowned mentalist’s mouth sewn shut – hinting that he has been sworn to secrecy on the details.
But the latest activity provides the first clues to the nature of the ride.

The Derren Brown experience will be the world’s only fully immersive psychological attraction, designed to manipulate the human mind.
Mike Vallis, Divisional Director of THORPE PARK Resort, said: “Following the announcement of Derren Brown curating our new 2016 attraction in October, we have had many enthusiasts try to unravel our closely guarded secret.
“From theme park enthusiasts trying to access the site to fans sneaking into the backend of our social media accounts to look for scheduled posts.
“So due to demand and interest in our largest investment to date we have released our next clue, The Victorian Twins.”
Construction on the new attraction has already begun and is shrouded in secrecy.

The company has, however, revealed that the footprint of the new experience will encompass 2,306 square metres and will involve a team of over 1,000 specialists from the resort’s Magic Making Creative Department, as well as external experts.
Visitors to the experience will embark on a 13-minute journey.

This 'Candy Kittens' Vending Machine Dispensed Tricks, Not Treats

One of the more ingenious Halloween pranks this year was executed by gourmet candy retailer Candy Kittens in Shoreditch, London. A seemingly innocent bright pink vending machine offering free sweets lured in passersby for a chance to get free products from the brand.
Little did they know, this vending machine dispensed tricks instead of treats. As each person attempted to reach for an anticipated treat, a dark, hairy, scary hand emerged out of the dispensing tray. This video catches all of those priceless reactions. Candy Kittens was able to execute one of the most hilarious Halloween pranks in recent memory, perfectly capturing people’s over-the-top and unrestrained reactions. For those who endured the scare, they were rewarded with a free treat.

Tesco Pranks Customers for Halloween Campaign

Tesco has released an online film of its staff playing Halloween pranks on customers in stores.
Black Sheep Studios, Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s in-house production studio, created the online ad, which is set in a Tesco supermarket and filmed with hidden cameras.
The cameras catch the reactions of customers as they come across “haunted” trolleys and Tesco staff wearing Halloween costumes, including a ghost-faced woman who hides behind stack of kitchen rolls.
This Is Money reported on 24 October that Halloween had overtaken Valentine’s Day to become the third biggest retail event in the UK calendar, after Christmas and Easter, with people spending between £300 million and £400 million on items connected with the day.
Tesco’s newest TV campaign debuted on 18 October and reintroduced the concept of a “Tesco Family” and the store’s “every little helps” slogan.
In addition to the prankvertising lead film, Tesco’s Halloween campaign includes four instructional online videos that demonstrate how to create scary costumes.
The new work was created by Kate Murphy at BBH and directed by Dave Stoddart through Black Sheep Studios.

psLIVE bring Woman In Black to Life in scare prank

Film group Entertainment One tasked experiential agency psLIVE with bringing to life the Woman In Black to market the horror character’s latest film, Angel of Death.

psLIVE responded with two spooky stunts as part of the film’s #SheNeverLeft publicity campaign.

The first prank took place at the Odeon in Greenwich on 20 and 21 December and featured a poster that came to life. An actress dressed as the spooky spectre hid behind a translucent screen and screamed as the poster lit up to scare unsuspecting passers-by.
The second stunt took place at Odeons in Kingston and Newcastle on New Year’s Day, where the Woman in Black walked through the cinemas scaring movie-goers as her film played.

Hilarious Prank Ad Shows Eye-Popping Ouija Board Psychic Terrorizing New Yorkers

New York City-based viral marketing agency Thinkmodo, who previously terrorized New Yorkers with the scarily good ‘Devil Baby’ and telekinetic coffee shop prankvertisements, is back with another hilariously sadistic stunt.
In the ad, a bunch of unsuspecting patrons lured by the prospect of a free reading consult an ouija board psychic.
As the psychic reads out letters, she suddenly pops her eyes out of her skull and yells at them to run, startling them and making them scream.
As if that wasn’t scary enough, the poor customers get another shock when a “dead body” rises from the floorboards and starts flailing around.
The ad was created to promote the upcoming horror movie Ouija, and their reactions were captured on hidden cameras.
